I only learned recenty The Cure had played in Palmerston North. That it happened twice amazes me. Too bad I discovered Echo and the Bunnymen 1984 at the age of 14. It would have been amazing to have seen them live in my hometowm.

I thought I'd offer a couple of corrections/additions off the top of my head:
Talking Heads played in ChCh in 1979 as well.
XTC played at the St James in Wellington
Cheap Trick played in ChCh in 1979 (do they count?)
By the way, Echo and the Bunnymen at the Wellington Town Hall in 1981 was the best gig I've ever been to. Added to the fact that the first Clean gig in Wellington was within a few days of it – it was one hell of a week.
